Holy Anointing Oil

The Holy Anointing Oil, used in sacred rituals for millennia, is steeped in history and symbolism. Olive oil, long considered sacred, represents peace, wisdom, and purity. Angelica Root, known as Holy Ghost Root, is a powerful protector, healer, and guardian, symbolizing strength and warding off evil. Frankincense and Myrrh, key ingredients, are revered for their healing properties and spiritual purification, often used in meditation and burial rites. Ceylon Cinnamon and Cassia, ancient spices as valuable as gold, were central to embalming and holistic healing practices. Spikenard, once the costliest perfume, symbolizes abandoned worship, as shown by Mary of Bethany’s act of devotion. Calamus Root, mentioned in Exodus 30, was cherished across cultures for its healing and aphrodisiac qualities. The oil is naturally preserved by cinnamon, ensuring a long shelf life if stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

Ritual for Blessing the Holy Anointing Oil

At sunset, when darkness falls, place the jar of oil in a sanctified space. Encircle it with consecrated salt, forming a protective ring. From the circle’s four cardinal points, extend lines of salt to create a cross. At the end of each line, place a white pillar candle. Light the candles and offer this prayer with reverence:

"Father/Mother, Divine Source of All, the Holy Spirit of Many Names,
Behold me, your humble servant, standing in awe of your glory.
Bless this oil with your sacred presence, your light, and your protection.
May it sanctify and make holy all it touches.
Let those anointed by this oil receive your highest blessings,
and let it be your will that guides its purpose.
By your hand and mine, united in devotion,
may the sanctity of this Holy Oil be sealed forevermore."

Gently snuff out the candles and leave the jar on the altar overnight.

Store the Holy Oil in a protected space, such as beneath your altar or upon it, shielded from sunlight.
